Configure and Log Your Sails and Engine | Ekynavy

3 min read

EkyNavy lets you set up every sail and engine on board once, then track exactly when you use them during each navigation.

Configure your sails and engines

Open the Boat tab, then Configuration. Add each sail (mainsail, genoa, jib, spinnaker, storm jib, etc.) and each engine on board. This is a one-time setup per boat.

Log changes during a navigation

During an active navigation, tap the + button at the bottom and choose:

  • Sails when you hoist, drop, change sail, or take a reef
  • Engine when you start or stop a motor
  • Tack when you tack

Place a log at a specific location

Each log is added by default at your current GPS position and appears on the map. If you want to place it at a specific spot (for example to catch up on a change you forgot to log at the time), tap directly on your navigation track on the map: this opens the tool to add a log at that exact location, as an extra line in your logbook.

Auto-stop at the end of a navigation

If you forget to stop the engine or log the drop of the sails, no worries, they stop automatically at the end of the navigation. Your statistics stay consistent.

See your statistics

After one or several navigations, you have access to usage statistics of your sails and engines (cumulative engine hours, time under each sail, distance covered per configuration). They are available from the Boat tab or the Statistics tab.
